Become a Partner School
Our Offer
To access our support in through 2024-25, your school needs to register as a Write Back Partner School. This enables you to:
Refer 2 - 4 students in Year 9 or 10 per term to our storytelling programme. Workshops take place after-school, once a week at Future Youth Zone.
Attend the graduation ceremonies for your students at the end of the project.
Receive copies of your students’ published work, to showcase in school or to the wider community.
Receive an annual report on your students’ progress.
Eligibility
Any secondary school in Barking and Dagenham can become a partner school and we work with any young person referred on by these schools. The best judge of which young people should get involved will be the teachers that know them and we welcome that schools may refer very different young people. Some schools may want to focus on PP, EAL or a different specific demographic in order to maximise impact or access funds. It is this diversity of experiences and stories that makes Write Back a successful programme. We provide each school with a simple guide if they are unsure of who to refer.
Costs
We are a small, volunteer-led charity and our mission is to make sure as many young people as possible can access storytelling. The vast majority of our costs therefore are covered by fundraising. However there is a small once-a-year cost to schools for enrolling students onto the programme. Costs have skyrocketed but we are proud that our charges to schools are unchanged since 2020. This fee includes the cost to the young person joining and attending Future Youth Zone so there are never any costs owed by the young people or their families.
Becoming a Write Back Partner School costs:
£150 - referring up to 2 students per term (6 over the year)
£225 - referring up to 3 students per term (9 over the year)
£300 - referring up to 4 students per term (12 over the year)
If you wish to refer additional students over the course of the year, there is a charge of £25 per student.
