That was the day I was given the opportunity to write my story and become a Write Back member. I don't know why but anytime I am given the opportunity to participate in any activity, I always want to say 'Yes'  and have that accomplishment. After a teacher in my school told me about this, at first, I was like ‘but I'm not even good at English and I'm not even interested in writing anywhere other than my English classroom.’ But eventually I said that I'll do it for the experience and I did.

The first ever Write Back session I attended before lockdown - one to remember. So, as I was saying, the first day was kind of awkward: 9 students who don't know each other from anything starting to participate in a programme the school introduced them to. But I remember how Sam and Helen were there the whole time to make the session more comfortable and memorable. Even though we couldn't see each other face to face after the lockdown, we still made it work. I remember the first thing Helen and Sam told us they said, 'I have a story to tell and the voice to tell it' and I will never forget that.

Future Youth Zone

Even the name itself says a lot. Future Youth Zone is a super colourful and vibrant place.

When I first saw it I was surprised to see all the things it had, like it really attracts the eye. The first thing I noticed was definitely the design of the place. The sign at the top of the building said 'Future' with the 'u' having an arrow going upwards and 'Onside Youth Zone', with someone sitting on the 'o', someone next to the 'n' and someone standing next to the 'i' in 'side', each one of the figures were doing different actions and sports. The colours that are very present are colours like orange, pink, blue, yellow and white, but all very bright.

The inside was so warm and welcoming. The office on my left and one of those airport metal detectors on my right. I was very surprised to see all the different facilities the place had, like an art room right in from of the office and a gym to the right of the office and many more things all around.

I'm not going to lie, it was hard for me to write a bit of my story day by day. However, I still tried to persevere and move forward. All my hard work was worth it, as that is the day I became a published story teller. Dates are very important to me because it is a way for me to look back at what I did and how I did it and so helps me decide on what I will do. It also gives me hope and joy by helping me to keep all my best memories alive.
